The Museum's Javanese gamelan is the largest and most complete set in the Western hemisphere, with both pelog and slendro tunings.

Tri Sutrisno unpacks Bedhug

It was a hot day on July 15, 2000, when Tri Sutrisno and other volunteers unpacked the most complete Javanese gamelan outside of Java, 83 instruments carved from teak and gilded with gold leaf by Ud Soepoyo, Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia, commissioned with funds given by Mr. & Mrs. Hubert H. Everist, Sioux City, Iowa, 1999.
