NMM 5975. Violin,
Markneukirchen and/or Schönbach (Luby), Bohemia ca. 1890-1910. Unlabelled. Top: two-piece,
quarter-cut spruce, medium grain; wooden dowel through top into top
block on bass side of center joint, wooden dowel through top into bottom
block on treble side of center joint. Back: two-piece, quarter-cut maple
or sycamore with faint, horizontal, broad curl. Decoration: back ornamented
at center with oval-shaped decorative inlay comprised of narrow-gauge
purfling, irregularly cut abalone fragments, and black and silver mastic.
