This unsigned instrument differs from the more typical, bell-up, circular, string-rotary valve cornet, in that the bell points to the player's left when held in playing position. This is achieved by the use of side action, string-operated rotary valves, which force the player to hold the instrument horizontally instead of vertically. The shape of the mounts and ferrules suggest that it was made in Germany.

Body: Brass with German-silver touchpieces and ferrules. Circular tubing: leadpipe; valve segment; main tuning slide parallel to valve loops; semicircular conical bow; conical bell bow and bellpipe in one integral part to the right of leadpipe; French rim.

Valves: Three side-action, string-operated rotary valves. Spiral-spring return mechanism; reciprocal driver pivot stopped by V-shaped cork buffers. Inner slide tubing. Windway: first, second, third valve.

Sounding length: 1265 mm; internal diameter, leadpipe: 11 mm; bore diameter (inner valve slides) 10.8 mm; bell diameter: 125 mm.
