Original over-the shoulder cornets are increasingly rare and are not always suitable for performance without major repair. Copies such as this over-the-shoulder cornet by Robb Stewart offer a valuable alternative to playing the originals. Engraved on bell: Made by / R. STEWART Body:  Five-piece, single-loop brass body with tuning slide on first bow. No bell seam visible. Brass garland with one engraved line adjacent to the upper edge; Saxon rim. Short brass ferrules with one engraved line adjacent to each edge. Bell to the left of the leadpipe. Rotary Valves Click on image above to see a larger image Valve design with horseshoe stop Valves:  Three top-action, string-operated, rotary valves. Coil-spring return mechanism; horseshoe-stop with cork buffers. Inner slide tubing. Windway: first, second, third valve. Serial number, 168, stamped on first valve case. Accessories and Sounding Length Accessories:  Mahogany case with brass fittings and black velvet interior; brass lyre stamped RMC; silver cornet mouthpiece. Sounding length:  1320 mm; internal diameter, receiver: 10.4 mm; internal diameter, receiver minimum at ca. 21 mm): 9.1 mm; bore diameter (inner valve slides): 11.6 mm; bell diameter: 115 mm.
