NMM 1527 a/b. Rattles (kartal), Uttar Pradesh, India, late 19th century. A pair of wooden rattles with flat, brass jingles. Embellished with brass studs and stylized bird figures. Used to accompany religious singing and some stringed instruments. Length: 28 cm. Board of Trustees, 1977.
