SUMMER EXPLORER SERIES
For Students Entering the Fourth Through Sixth Grade

Seussical!
WHAT: Each summer, the
NMM offers a series of programs that are designed to introduce
children to the instruments in the collections in a fun and meaningful
way. Children will be able to examine closely several artifacts and put them into an historical context that will be meaningful to their everyday lives. They will learn some different things and have fun in the process! If your children participated in the series in the past, you can be assured that different instruments will be examined and new projects will be explored.
This year, we'll take a Seussical look at the Shapes of Sound!
Gazazzels, gazoozels, gaziggles galore,
These instruments are just waiting for you to explore.
Wiggle your fingers, blow with air like sighs.
Imagine playing these instruments and hear with your eyes.

June 3-5: 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM
June 6: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (lunch served for students); 12:00 concert for family and friends |

For students entering the 4th-6th grade in the fall of 2013 |
| STAFF: |
All sessions conducted by Dr. Deborah Check Reeves, NMM Educator |
| FEE: |
$20 for all four sessions. All materials to be taken home.
Mid-morning snack provided. |
SCHEDULE: |
Schedule for June 6:
9:00-11:00: A special day of discovery and exploration of the Javanese gamelan.
11:15-12:00: Lunch served for the student participants.
12:00-12:30: Kinder Konzert! Students perform gamelan music from Java for invited family and friends.
After the concert, students will show family and friends some of the artifacts in the galleries that they learned about during the week.
