SUMMER EXPLORER SERIES FOR STUDENTS ENTERING THE FOURTH THROUGH SIXTH GRADE
WHAT: Each summer, the NMM offers a series of programs that are designed to introduce children to the instruments in the collections in a fun and meaningful way. Children will be able to examine closely several artifacts and put them into an historical context that will be meaningful to their everyday lives. They will learn some different things and have fun in the process! If your children participated in the series in the past, different instruments will be examined and new projects will be explored.
Put on your explorer hat and get ready to fly around the world! Interpret riddles and clues along the way in order to find musical instruments from every place imaginable. Construct your own musical instruments to take home. Each day focuses on the answer to the riddle given below:
SUMMER DISCOVERY SERIES FOR STUDENTS ENTERING THE FIRST THROUGH THIRD GRADE ![]() Dragon King (Naga) from the Javanese Gamelan, Kyai Rengga Manis Everist, at the NMMWHAT: The Summer Discovery Series is a mini-version of the Summer Explorer Series described above, specifically geared to the younger child. For one hour a day, your children will be introduced to the NMM's instruments in an exciting, meaningful, and fast paced manner.

| TIME: | Two sessions. Register for only one session. 1st session: 10:00 to 11:00 AM 2nd session: 1:00 to 2:00 PM |
AGES: | For students entering the first through the third grade in the fall of 2009. |
| STAFF: | All sessions conducted by NMM Educators |
| FEE: | $10.00 for all four sessions. All materials to be taken home. |

June 11 | Lightly tapped and gently hit, these you'll learn to play bit-by-bit! |
