The 2010 Great Plains Conference on the Teaching in the Social Sciences (GP-CoTSS) has been scheduled for October 1-2, 2010 on the campus of the University of South Dakota. This year�s theme is Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century: Technology�s Trials and Triumphs.

Call for papers. We invite you to submit proposals for paper presentations for the 4th Annual conference. We especially seek proposals on the following, as suggested by attendees at the 2009 conference:  

� innovative pedagogy and best practices,
� research on teaching,
� teaching with technology, and
� assessment.

Proposals may be discipline-specific or global in nature.

We are seeking interactive, lively presentations that exemplify creative teaching and advancing student learning. Preference will be given to proposals that emphasize practical, research-based approaches that can be adapted by participants for immediate use in their classes or academic programs. Papers from the conference will be published online. Proposals should be submitted online at http://orgs.usd.edu/gpctss/ by May 3, 2010.

Paper presentation: 15 minute presentation with 8 minute question/answer. Rooms are equipped with computer, data projector and screen.
Poster presentation: 1.5 - 2 hour session in which guests may visit posters and discuss projects individually with presenters
Roundtable discussion: 30-45 minute discussion session in which the presenter first presents their project or idea, then leads group discussion.

To Submit a Proposal

Proposals should be submitted online by September 5, 2008. Submit:

• a title,
• authors’ names, contact information and affiliations,
• 500-word, or less, abstract summarizing the proposed presentation and
• Required accommodations.

Rooms will be equipped with a computer, data projector and screen. The following may be available in presentation rooms if requested:

• Camcorder
• Microphone and stand
• Slide projector
• Overhead projector (for transparencies)
