Coming Out while at the U.
Coming out means coming out of the closet or letting others know you are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. It often is a process in which you have undergone quite a bit of thought about this idea. Some of you feel comfortable enough to come out as a teenager in middle school or high school, while some of you will come out in college or beyond. Or, some of you may decide to stay in the closet for various reasons. Whatever the reasons, hopefully you will ALWAYS feel comfortable to attend our 10% Society meetings! You do NOT need to label yourself at all, but just be yourself!
If you want to discuss this with a caring school person there are many places and people to turn to! Here are a few ideas:
1. You may visit with one of the co-advisors of the 10% Society, Michelle or Derick. Michelle works at campus housing and Derick is a graduate student.
2. You may visit with one of the counselors at the Student Counseling Center in Julian and may call them at (605)677-5777.
3. You could also set up an appointment with a counseling student Counseling Psychology in Delzell and can call them at (605)677-5250.
4. Or, you may arrange to see a clinical psychology student and they can be reached at (605)677-5353.
